Hand Converter FAQ

General Questions

What is the purpose of the hand converter?

The hand converter takes the messy and hard to read hand history text file that you get from an online poker room and changes it into a much more readable format. You can then post this output in the FTR forums, or other online poker forums, to get feedback!

Can I use the FTR converter for other poker forums?

Absolutely! We support formats for the most popular poker forums including FlopTurnRiver, TwoPlusTwo, PocketFives, CardRunners, and more. Select which forum you would like to post in by clicking the dropdown under “Select output format:”.

What rooms does the hand converter work with?

We are constantly adding support for new rooms/networks. To see our current supported sites list, please click here.

Technical Problems

We are always trying to fix any bugs we come across, but if you happen to find anything wrong with the hand converter, we would appreciate it if you let us know.

I don't see the format listed that I was looking for.

You can request that we add the format by clicking on the Request New Format link. (Select “New Format Request” from the dropdown.) We will look into your request and contact you as soon as we can.

You don't support the poker room I want to convert.

If we don’t currently support the poker room you play at, please fill out a Bug Report and select “Unsupported Poker Room” from the dropdown.

Note: If you want us to add a new room, we will need you to provide hand history examples for Cash Games, SNG, and MTT in no-limit hold’em.

Error: Can't determine file format

If you received this error, please check you pasted the entire hand history into the input box. You can see the How to use the Converter section below for an example of what should be pasted into the input box for all rooms.

Error: Don't know what to do with game ""

If you received this error, please check to see that we support to room or network you are trying to convert.

Error: Failed to parse game header

This is usually due to a room that is unsupported. However, it can also mean there was a problem with the beginning of the hand history. Please check the header of the HH to ensure there were no other characters or text added.

Other errors

If you receive any additional errors, the converter will not work, or you have a suggestion for improvement please click here to let us know.

Hand Converter Features and Options

The FTR Hand History Converter has many options and features to personalize or add details to your hands. Below you will see each option and what it is used for.

Format

This option lets you choose the correct format for the output based on which forums you will be posting them in. We support the most popular online poker forums today, including FlopTurnRiver, TwoPlusTwo, CardRunners, PocketFives, and more. If you want to post a hand in your blog, select Blogs/HTML. If you do not see the format on our list, press the Request New Format link to send us an e-mail.

Identify yourself as

This changes your name in the hand history to whatever you’d like. As default it is set to Hero, but you can call yourself anything you like.

Side-pot details

Check this box if your hand contains various side pots and you want the details to be shown in the summary.

Mark important stacks

This will bold stacks that saw the flop, and also bold and red stacks that went to showdown.

High your cards & identity

This option will treat the hand like it was observed, and just show the action. There will be no Hero.

Opponent aliases

You can use this option to change the name of any opponent in the hand. For example, if someone in your hand has the name “player1” and you want to change this to “huge donk,” you would type “player1” in the (Opponent name) box. Then you would type “huge donk” in the (Opponent alias) box below. If you do not use this option, player names will default to their position at the table.

How to use the Converter

To use the hand converter, copy a full hand history (provided by the online poker room) and paste it into the input box. Press Convert Hand, then copy the result that appears in the output box. Take this converted text and paste it at the forum you chose.

Below you will see all of the poker rooms the FTR Hand Converter currently supports. Here you will see an example of what you need to paste into the input box, and a converted result.
