Definition
A raise in the opening round of betting announced before the player looks at his or her cards. Contrast to a straddle, which is a bet of twice the big blind made by the player under the gun which entitles that player to act last pre-flop. Not all casinos allow straddles, but all casinos allow blind raises, which carry no privileges to act last.
Example
Hero is under the gun and believes the table is not giving him enough action. He announces, before the cards are dealt, that he is blind raising. That action is binding.
