LogoThursday in Paris saw history being made as the Poker Brat, Phil Hellmuth, made history as the first player in the WSOP’s existence to achieve 100 cashes in bracelet events. This milestone makes Hellmuth the holder of both the most cashes and most bracelets in WSOP history.

But that wasn’t all, it also saw two final tables creating two new WSOPE champions, and action in two other events.

Event #3

The €5,300 Mixed Max No Limit Hold’em Event #3 had already played down to the final two on Wednesday, and the last two left standing were Dan O’Brien and Darko Stojanovic. O’Brien went into the action the significant chip leader, but due to the influence of Lady Variance, Stojanivic was the one emerge triumphant, announced that he was taking his kids to Disneyland this Saturday, but if he was being honest, that was already planned before he managed the win.

Event #4

Thursday also saw the €1,650 Pot Limit Omaha play through it’s final table, where Jason Mercier was going for his third WSOP bracelet. That, however wasn’t to be, and he busted in fourth, leaving the way open for Jeremy Ausmus to take his first WSOP title and €70,324.

The Final Six ended up like this:

Event #5

The second day of the €2,200 No Limit Hold’em Event #5 saw the number of players reduced to just seven lead by Poker Legend, Erik Seidel. Seidel will start the final day of action with more than a third of the chips in the tournament room.

The money bubble burst earlier in the day, and the bubble boy was Pascal Rabany. He was eliminated by Jason Mann who sucked out on the Frenchman to put all the remaining players into the money.

The chip counts going into the final day were:

  1. Erik Seidel – 711,000
  2. Kevin Song – 442,000
  3. Toger Hairabedian – 267,000
  4. Matan Krakow – 204,000
  5. Mike Watson – 156,000
  6. Erwann Pecheux – 130,000
  7. Max Greenwood – 113,000

Event #6

The second Mixed Max event of this year’s WSOPE, the €3,250 Mixed Max Pot Limit Omaha saw 127 players stumping up the cash for an opportunity to add a WSOP title to their Poker CV. The 29 players surviving to Day 2 included Phil Laak (62,700), Dan Shak (47,900), Matthew Ashton (35,700) and Dan Kelly (24,300).

Those who fell in the battle of Day 1 included Phil Ivey, John Juanda, Davidi Kitai and Nacho Barbero.

Player of the Year

The 2013 WSOP Player of the Year Race is coming to a conclusion, and Matthew AShton is still leading the charge. He’ll be adding more points to hi tally when he cashes Event #6, but it’s only going to take one of the top players in the list to take a bracelet, to change everything up.
