According to a recent press release, 888poker has earned an operating license from the Italian government. This will allow the Israeli-based company to accept online wagers from residents of their Mediterranean neighbor, on both the casino and poker ends.

The efforts will be headed up by their independent division, Dragonfish. The company already has its fingers in a variety of the nation’s pies, including “leading Italian partners, such as Microgame, Gioco Digitale / bwin.it and King.com, for the deployment of its CasinoFlex, with several more deals imminent.”

With this addition, 888 continues to quietly amass an incredible business base. They’ve even made inroads into the US market, signing an agreement with Caesars Entertainment in the hours prior to Black Friday. While the initial deal involves the development of European-aimed software, the working relationship between the two could result in future dealings on American soil.

As to the Italian matter, here’s what Itai Frieberger (888’s CEO) had to say on his newest market:

“This successful certification of our products by AAMS further reaffirms our focus and commitment to the growing Italian eGaming market. We have been active under the Italian online regulated regime over the past few years, and we are looking forward to further bolstering our gaming proposition through our 888.it operation, as well as through our Dragonfish powered partners. We aim to present the Italian players with a world-class, fully localized gaming experience by leveraging on our 14 years of online casino excellence. We welcome new opportunities to grow our market share as Italy becomes increasingly active.”
