This past Valentine’s Day saw many considerable winners, one of the most exciting (and difficult to pronounce) of which hails from the shores of Finland. His name is Artuu Pitkakangas, and his winnings topped £7,000 during Betfair’s Poker Live event in London.

Held at the Fox Poker Club near the center of the city’s theater district, the event itself featured a total of 171 entrants from all over Europe. Each ponied up an entry fee of £250 for the chance to compete for the title of London Champion.

In the end, it was Pitkakangas who emerged victorious, nailing an Ace on the flop to take down Portugal’s Hugo Cruz. Another pair of Finnish players made the final table — Aarno Kivelio (3rd, £3,900) and  Juho Launonen (6th – £2,000).

Here’s how the last nine finished:

#1 – Artuu Pitkakangas (£7,630 and a Betfair Tallinn Package)
#2 – Hugo Cruz (£5,900)
#3 – Aarno Kivelio (£3,900)
#4 – Philip Chan (£3,100)
#5 – Michael Malle (£2,400)
#6 – Juho Launonen (£2,000)
#7 – Leigh Wiltshire (£1,600)
#8 – Louis Manson (£1,200)
#9 – Nicolay Hellene (£1,000)

The day’s action also saw German-born player Lex Lettl taking home a £640 pot and £1,000 Betfair Live package in a £33 bounty side event. The field of 67 players included Big Carlos, known for his activity on Betfair’s Twitter account.

Next on the schedule is a live event in Tallinn, running from April 15-17.
