Coming back to Atlantic City for the fourth year the World Series of Poker has taken over Jersey. Caesars Atlantic City is currently hosting the 9th of 12 WSOP Circuit stops in 2008.

The event will last three days and day one finished in a solid fashion. Dan Hicks took day one with 250,800 chips. This is a considerable amount considering the average stack is about 70,000 chips. We’ll see if he can continue to hold onto that lead up until Saturday! With 277 entries and a prize pool of $1,357,300 he certainly has some incentive.

Notable players at the event were Eric Froehlich, Cliff Josephy, Chris Reslock, Michael Sica and Cyndy Violette. These are all people to keep an eye on as the event unfolds considering they are all outstanding players.

Day 1 eliminated 204 players, leaving 73 people to duke it out with Dan Hicks for the top spot. The winner will get $431,136 as well as $11,000 to guarantee a seat at the WSOP Main Event later this year.
