British Poker professional, Joe Beevers, finished 2007 in a spectacular fashion by taking down the Ladbroke’s Million VI last Friday. The Ladbrokes Million is one of richest and most prestigious poker tournaments in Europe with a million dollar pay day!
The field in this tournament was very strong, with Beevers outlasting the likes of Howard Lederer, as well as well respected European professionals such as Julian Gardner, Liam Flood and Marty Smith. The tournament lasted until the early hours of the morning, having to being heads up with Irishman, Marty Smith. Both players could have won this event, and eventually the blinds got a stage where it became a ‘push-fest’. Ultimately, Beevers took it down when his pocket 9’s held up against Smith’s Kigh high. 2007 has been very kind to Beevers, who after this win, brought his total career earnings to $2.3million. As well as this mammoth win, he also reached the final table of the WSOPE Horse event and won the Great British Poker Tour main event in Bristol< for £87,500 ($174k).
A fantastic ending to a great year for Beevers, roll on 2008!
