It’s been kind of a tough go for Bodog over the past year or so.  First they lost their domain name, they are now at bodoglife.com, and more recently they were getting a lot of pressure from players and critics for cashout issues.  So 2008 was more of a “get-it-together” type year for Bodog.

Looking forward to 2009, however, Bodog is aiming to step up its game.  Already this year, they have given away eleven seats to the 2009 World Series of Poker, each worth approximately $12,000.  That’s not all for Bodog though; they’ll be giving away more as the year moves along.  Also, if you missed the Bodog Poker Open (BPO) last year, you missed a great series of tournaments.  Don’t worry though, BPO III is tentatively scheduled to return this spring with even better prizes than last year.

New to Bodog this year is a Q & A section on the site where users can ask poker related questions to be answered by Bodog pro Justin Bonomo.  Also this year, Bodog brings some exciting news for Mac users.  They finally have a Mac compatible flash based poker client!  This can only help increase traffic as Macs are becoming more and more popular and Mac users have few options when it comes to places to play.

According to pokerscout, Bodog is ranked 15th in terms of traffic coming into the year.  They are currently a distant 5th out of the online poker sites still allowing US players, even though most who play there would agree it is one of the best sites available when it comes to nice loose tables with lots of action.  They’ll definitely be looking to increase their standing throughout the year, so be sure to look for more promotions coming from Bodog.  If it has been a while since you’ve given Bodog a shot, now might be a great time to fire it back up.  They often have reload bonuses available and if you’ve never played at Bodog, don’t forget you can get a 110% bonus worth up to $500 by signing up through FTR!
