Most all U.S. poker players have at least heard of Bodog or even played at their site occasionally. For the past decade or so, Bodog has made a name for itself as one of the best sites in the world. They were also keen to the idea of allowing U.S. players which of course attracted many Americans. On Black Friday, Bodog held true to U.S. players and still allowed for their business.

Well, as of the first day of 2012 this will no longer be the case. Apparently, Bodog has chosen to have their license agreement with Morris Mohawk Gaming to expire at the end of the year. What this means is that the Bodog Brand will leave the U.S. online gaming market.

Bodog released a statement giving a few reasons on why they made the decision. Bodog says that because they have just been granted a license by the UK gambling commission, they would like to develop their brand further. But, to ensure that their brand doesn’t carry a negative perception, Bodog feels it is best to withdraw its brand from US markets.

The plus side is that the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group has plans to launch their own brand in 2012. This should mean that U.S. players, specifically Bodog players, will have a new home to play in.

Keep in mind that Bodog says that U.S. players’ funds are indeed safe. Make sure to keep your eye out on any more news regarding the situation.
