Cake Poker is hosting a massive $60,000 Rake Race this September. The five figure rake race hopes to stem some problems Cake Poker has suffered in 2010.

The blossoming Cake Network has suffered a steady decline in cash game traffic over the past six months. Last month, news surfaced that the room had a security flaw in the form of weak encryption. Cake Poker has launched an independent investigation into the matter.

There is good news. First, Cake Poker is headed by Lee Jones, the man who took PokerStars to the top. Jones is one man we would bet on to turn around the room. Second, in just a few hours, Victory Poker will be joining the Cake Network. The upstart room, promoted by Antonio Esfandiari and Andrew Robl (Good2CU), is migrating from the Everleaf Network. Lastly, who doesn’t love a $60,000 rake race?

The race will award the top 300 rakers between September 1 and September 30. First place is a whopping $5,000. Finishing in the top 8 will net you at least a grand. The bottom rung of payouts is still a respectable $50.
