2013 World Series of Poker dubbed “The Year of the Canadian”

Although Canadians are usually the minority when it comes to the WSOP (making up less than 10% of all players), that hasn’t stopped the Red & White from taking over. Canadians have won 10 bracelets over 61 events, and have Marc Etienne McLaughlin on the final table of the $10,000 Main Event World Championship.

Canada has over 16% of the bracelets this year, and over 3x the amount of any non-US country. When you count the 4 runner up finishes by Daniel Negreanu (2-7 Triple Draw Lowball $2.5k), Jason Bigelow ($1k NLHE), Yongshuo Zheng ($1.5k NLHE), and Mark Merkains ($1.5k Fixed Limit), and other final table finishes, Canada has been represented a whopping 38 times this year on the final table. In total, Canada has 573 cashes in this year’s WSOP for approximately $12 million in prizes. If McLaughlin can somehow take down the Main Event, this number will jump up to a staggering $20 million!

Here are all the Canadian bracelet winners in the 2013 World Series of Poker:
