Although players from the United States are unable to play at Bovada Poker since the recent FBI indictment on April 15, Full Tilt continues to be the place to be for players from the rest of the world as the twentieth FTOPS is currently in full swing. We’re officially well passed the halfway mark and Event 29 was played out on Tuesday this week, with Clairv0yant1 taking down the tournament.

If you’re new to the world of online poker, FTOPS is none other than the Full Tilt Online Poker Series, one of the largest and most well-known series of poker tournaments on the internet, taking place roughly once every three months. This latest FTOPS is somewhat smaller than other recent series due to the withdrawal of Full Tilt from the US market, but nevertheless boasts a combined guaranteed prize of over $12.5 Million spread over 45 exciting tournaments.

Of the 45 tournaments from this series, Event 29 was the only one with a cashout format. Cashout tournaments, which are unique to Full Tilt Poker, work by separating every player’s buy-in into two separate prize pools. One prize pool is as always, but the second “cashout prizepool” gives players the chance to cash out of a tournament early, where the amount of money they receive is determined by their chip stack. So if you manage to accumulate a big stack but don’t feel like you have an edge, you can still be rewarded!

The 29th tournament of the series attracted 487 players, which was more than enough to cover its reduced guarantee of $25,000. With entries costing $200 + $16 for those not fortunate enough to satellite their way in, the final prize pool reached an impressive $48,700, with a matching cash out pool. 81 players received their share of the official prize pool, with first place receiving $9,496.50 after just under three hours of play.

Although there was a sizable chunk of cash up for grabs at the final table – over $30,000 in fact – we didn’t see any chop at the final table. This could well have been due to the turbo nature of the event, meaning all players were still feeling fresh as the final table broke. In any event it was Clairv0yant1 feeling the freshest of them all as he shipped first place  and won a tidy $9,946.50. There are still many great tournaments left in this current series, so look forward to hearing more from the tables and don’t be afraid to join in yourself. Who knows what could happen!
