In an amazing feat, up-and-coming pro David Vamplew took down two tournaments in as many days, winning the PokerStars EPT Main Event in London and the PokerStars UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Champion of Champions.

Vamplew, a successful midstakes grinder on PartyPoker and SNG player on PokerStars, bested a record-breaking 848 players on the way to his £900,000 win. Vamplew was the chip leader throughout most of the tournament, but ended up with a 4 to 1 chip disadvantage heads-up against poker pro John Juanda. David fought back, though, through very aggressive play. On the final hand, Juanda moved all-in with K2 only to be called by Vamplew’s A3. Vamplew flopped 2 pair, ousting Juanda, who took down £545,000.

The next day, Vamplew competed in the UKIPT Champion of Champions event, a sit-n-go style event consisting of 8 other Season 1 winners. His momentum continued as he bested Jamie Burland heads up. His prize is a seat at every Season 2 UKIPT event, including EPT London.
