He might be leading the field right now, but 2008 WSOP main event chip-leader Dennis Phillips is not taking anything for granted. In addition to bringing in Roy “The Oracle” Winston to help improve his game, he has now organized a final warm up event on November 7th – two days before the final table resumes.

A group of 20 high stakes players will gather at the Hard Rock casino in Las Vegas to compete in the Dennis Phillips Chipleader Challenge. For the pros it’s a chance to earn some serious prize money, but it could prove even more lucrative for Phillips as he looks to fine tune his game ahead of a run at the main event’s $9 million first prize.

The tournament will be played in a shootout format, with two tables of 10 putting up the $10,000 entry fee, designed to give Phillips some high-stakes single-table experience ahead of November 7th. The winner of each table will receive $50,000 with the two table champions then facing off in a heads up match for the remaining $150,000.

Along with a unique tournament experience the competitors will also be treated to an exclusive after party. Plans are also afoot to auction off signed felt from the tournament to raise money for charity.

Phillips and Winston are already confirmed for the event along with high profile pros: David Benyamine, Erica Shoenberg and Hoyt Corkins.
