We’ve known for a couple of weeks now that there were major changes coming to Doyle’s Room, online poker home of Doyle Brunson.  Just yesterday they announced that they are happy to be the newest member of the Cake Poker Network.  This partnership joins two important online poker entities, creating a strong alliance for both.

The Cake network is one of the few that still accepts players from the United States (except for the few states where it is illegal), meaning Doyle’s Room will once again accept US players.   Cake is in fact the fourth largest network accepting US players, behind only PokerStars, Full Tilt, and Cereus.  They are a network of more than 25 individual sites, including Cake Poker, Sportsbook, and Players Only Poker.

Doyle’s Room was quickly becoming one of the most popular “small sites” among American players before their former network, Microgaming, announced that they would no longer accept US players.  It is made famous mostly because of the man who’s name it bears, Doyle Brunson.  Doyle is one of the most outspoken poker celebrities fighting for legalized online poker in the states.  In the announcement of the change on Doyle’s website, he states, “We wanted to offer our players a rewarding place to play and the liquidity and integrity associated with the Cake Poker Network made this an easy choice for our new partnership.”

Doyle’s Room has announced a couple of special tournaments to celebrate the move to the new network.   First, on Saturday, January 31st at 5pm est, they will be hosting a $5,000 Launch Party Freeroll.  That will be followed just 24 hours later on Sunday at 5 by a $100,000 guaranteed No-Limit Texas Hold’em tournament with a buy-in of $150 + $12.  The network has also said that they would be offering “all of our network players a chance to rub elbows with Doyle Brunson through some industry exclusive promotions and contests we will be launching in the next few months.”
