PokerStars has just released the plans that they are going to be running the cash games at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo. “So What?” I hear you cry, “Don’t they run all the cash games at the EPT anyway?” Actually, no they don’t. PokerStars usually teams up with the local casino, who provide the cash game support, and sometimes part of the side event support as well.

In the past this has lead to players complaining about high rake, poor dealers, and decisions from floor people that have baffled everyone.

This means that PokerStars will be able to decide what games to spread, and they will make sure that the dedicated PokerStars trained dealers and floor people will be able to handle the intricacies of games like Badugi, Badacey and Open Face Chinese, as well as the more standard games of Hold ‘Em and Omaha. Shuffle machines will be in use to increase the number of hands per hour.

And the rake appears to be reasonable as well, with a 3% rake, and reasonable caps on how much rake can be taken from any pot. for all €2/€5 games the rake is capped at €15, the €5/€10 games are capped at €20 and anything bigger will be capped at €25. I see some big cash games brewing in Monte Carlo’s future, with players like Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Galfond and Gus Hansen all sitting round a 2-7 Triple Draw table, with some massive blind levels that wouldn’t be out of place for a online High Stakes report.

The tables will be spread 12 Noon to 6am local time, and will run between the 6th and 15th of May.
