The European Poker Tour kicked off its next stop today on October 30, 2007 in Dublin, Ireland. This event has a buyin of €7,700 + 300 and is expected to run from October 30 – November 3. This is a great stop on the tour and is played in the beautiful Merrion Casino Club, Royal Dublin Society.

There are a total of 200+ players registered including last years defending champ, Roland de Wolfe. Last year Wolfe tackled a field of 389 players to earn his share of the €1,847,750 prize pool. He walked away with €554,300 ($737,219) and was the first person to ever win a WPT and EPT title. This year the field is smaller, but the buyin has been increased by more than 50% (€5000 last year) so the prize pool should be the same if not larger! (With 250 entrants it will be €1,925,000). Other notable players attending are some members of Team PokerStars (ElkY, Dario Minieri, Noah Boeken, Luca Pagano, and Katja Thater), and other online pros such as THE__D__RY, Empire2000, and Martine23.

The structure at the EPT has been adjusted for this years season, and has a lot of room for play. Players start with 10,000 chips with blinds at 25/50, which increase every 60 minutes. Each day is set to play about 8 hours, until the final table on Day 4 (Day 1 is broken into Day 1A and Day 1B).

Day 1A kicks off today, and be sure to check back to see who is still alive once play stops. We will also be updating the event down to the winner, so stay tuned! Good luck too all players in the EPT!
