Eugene Katchalov, Ukrainian poker pro with over $6 million in live tournament winnings has joined Team PokerStars Pro. Katchalov’s major accomplishments include a WPT title, a WCOOP bracelet and he is the 2011 champion of the PokerStars Carribean Adventure $100,000 buy-in High Roller Event.
Katchalov was born in Kiev, capital city of the Ukraine and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Not only a tournament specialist, Katchalov also specializes in high stakes mixed games online. Katchalov studied finance in college and has a background in day trading. Katchalov’s low key demeanor and humble attitude has kept him under the radar to the casual fan, but don’t be surprised to see a lot more of Katchalov now that he is a member of Team PokerStars Pro.
Recently, Katchalov challenged Viktor Blom, one of the world’s best heads up players, in the “Isildur1” SuperStar Showdown heads up match. Despite losing a little over $100K in the match, Katchalov made a statement that he is willing to take on the world’s best even at games which are not him best, to step up his public image or just for the sheer challenge.
As far as tournament poker is concerned, Katchalov is clearly one of the best. Currently, Katchalov sits at 38th on the all-time tournament winnings list $6.1 Million. At only 30 years old Katchalov has a huge opportunity to make his way up the list and become one of the all-time greats in poker and superstars in poker.
