Nearly 4,000 players registered to do battle in WCOOP Event 22. The tournament required a $530 buy-in, but numerous satellite winners littered the field. The game? The Cadillac of poker: No Limit Texas Hold’Em. When it was time to shuffle up and deal, each player had their eye on the $300,000 first prize.

Four members of Team PokerStars managed to make the money. For better or worse, no member had a “big” score. Chad Brown, Fatima De Melo, Angel Guilen, and Sigge Reichard (Team Online) cashed WCOOP #22. Brown, who had a 10 pound tumor removed from his stomach in February, had the best Team PokerStars finish (222nd).

After 24 hours of play, don’t worry the event was broken up into 2 days of play, Flying Smile claimed ultimate victory. Apparently, in Soviet Russia, tournament win you! Flying Smile’s bear-like performance netted him $293,000. Well done and congratulations, Flying Smile!

Runner-up, pvas2, hailing from the UK, got a bit unlucky heads up. It all started when London rioters shook the PokerStars’ RNG when Flying Smile 4-bet shoved into A3s into pvas2’s KK. Flying Smile spiked a lucky ace on the river. On the last hand of the tournament, the river brought a set for pvas2 but also filled an inside straight for Lucky Smile. pvas2 shoved and Lucky Smile called and eliminated pvas2. For his second place finish, pvas2 collected $218,000.

The 2011 WCOOP rolls on until the September 25th Main Event. This year, the WCOOP Main Event boasts a first place prize of at least $1,000,000 (yes, that’s a million dollars)! Satellites are running daily, so get in there like swimwear!
