The Full Tilt Online Poker Series kicked off this week and is starting to get into full swing with Event 11 drawing the largest crowd of the series thus far. The FTOPS is a series of online tournaments hosted by Full Tilt every few months offering massive guarantees and a whole lot of fun. This August we’re in the middle of the FTOPS XVII which boasts 34 events and a staggering $19,000,000 in guaranteed prize pools.

Event 11 was a Knockout Tournament which gives players more incentive to send their fellow poker enthusiasts to the rail. Of course there’s a normal tournament payout structure to reward those who outlast their opponents, but in addition to this prize money, each time a player gets knocked out of the tournament an extra $20 is picked up by whoever sent him packing. This is a great way to encourage competitiveness and can obviously be extremely lucrative if you consider yourself the aggressive bully of the poker table.

If you weren’t lucky enough to satellite into the tournament, then entry would have set you back $120 + $9 but that didn’t seem to deter many players, with 8,861 people turning out to battle it out on the felt. The $800,000 guarantee is probably responsible for such a large turn-out, and the prize pool exceeded that in the end weighing in at just over $886,000. While that’s a princely sum of money, the $20 bounty on each player’s head is in addition to that figure, meaning there was a total of over $1 Million up for grabs in the event!

All FTOPS events are hosted by a prominent member of the Full Tilt Poker community, and this event was certainly no exception. The organizers at Bovada must have had a chuckle when they assigned Lacey Jones to this event, as she’s quite the knockout herself! The model-turned-poker-player has plenty experience both on the felt and in hosting events, having been an official WSOP Hostess and Bracelet Presenter in the past. You can play with her only at Bovada Poker.

Aside from Jones, the only person associated with Full Tilt seen near the top 250 players was Trond Eidsvig. The young Scandinavian pro, who is fourth on the Norway All Time Money List, has a great deal of experience in tournament poker, as shown by his over $1.5 Million career winnings. It was sadly not to be the red pro’s day, though, as he was eliminated in 94th place for $726.60 and however many player bounties he managed to collect along the way.

Lady luck was instead smiling on FM2T, who was the ultimate winner of the event. Outlasting the entire field over nearly 14 hours was certainly an impressive feat for the American player, although he’s no stranger to tournament success with career tournament winnings already in six figures.

Runner-up UWOkid87 knocked out third-place getter iuliani with quad kings, giving him a 3:1 chip lead as he came into heads-up play. Not deterred, FM2T doubled up, calling a bluff shove on the river and from there seemed to continue to accumulate chips. Stacks went in on the river of a 222A2 board in a hopeful move, but the call was quickly made for a split pot. Some time later the final hand played out as UWOkid87 was running short on chips and shoved preflop with A4o. FM2T’s K2o was good enough for a call and good enough to spike the deuce he needed to win him the FTOPS jersey and over $140,000 in prize money!
