Game 18 in season 6 of the FTR Gauntlet kicked off on Wednesday Nov 28, and everyone was ready from some fast action! If you are not sure what the Gauntlet is, be sure to click on the word “Gauntlet” to find out and register. Basically, it is FTR’s own private league where we donk around and have fun. You will see in a lot of the hand histories there is some bashing/talking, and that’s because we all know each other and have a good time. If you haven’t already, register and play with us next game. After reading the summary, make sure to see who won this games award for “lol cooleraments” which will be the cooler of the night, “wtf was he thinking” which will be the questionable play of the night, along with “beat of the night” which will be the worst beat (formerly known as donk of the night, but changed it to avoid confusion).

16 players came out for game 18, and there was some big names who don’t normally find the time to play, but we were all glad (well maybe not glad) that they donked around. These include Sauce123, chardrian, and the drunk chef flomo. Also, 1st and 2nd place players JimmyMac and givememyleg tossed chips around. Speaking of placements, let’s have a look at how the top 10 has changed after game 17:

FTR Name – GP – Points / Change
Jimmy Mac – 9 – 629.85 / 0
givememyleg – 10 – 576.91 / 0
ackthecat – 10 – 469.91 / +3
spin_md – 8 – 461.55 / -1
Shifubowa – 9 – 454.98 / 0
Fimanoid – 11 – 451.95 / -2
Alexos – 8 – 419.25 / 0
swiggidy – 9 – 397.59 / +4
bigspenda73 – 9 – 378.45 / +3
Bender50 – 8 – 374.01 / -2

The race is pretty much over, unless somehow givememyleg can take back to back first place finishes. Just look at how sick JimmyMac is, he has two wins, two seconds, and a fourth so far this year out of 9 games. Quite the track record! You also see some big jumps with ack’s finish in game 17, and swigg jumped up with my help last game. I have also been told that bigspenda and swiggidy have a prop bet for who finishes higher at season end, and it looks like right now swiggidy has a solid 20 point lead. Let’s see if spenda can close the gap.

Like every Gauntlet, spenda (LolTrappedU) will come out firing. He made a little slip up early on:

However, this hand didn’t even phase him, just look at this screen shot from the first 14 hands, he won over half of them!

Stop giving this guy respect! (Sorry if I just ruined your game Spenda). But I guess this is what happens when you don’t give him respect:

LolTrappedU said, “oops, float gone good”

And the wheeeeeing chardrian was gone in just 15 hands. Tough break for him, but as spenda said it was a float gone good. This hand sent spenda as the early chip leader, something he will prolly donk off later anyway. Meanwhile, sauce took on the self proclaimed “true nit” in the Gauntlet:

Very nice indeed! Definitely not like geno to play a hand like that, but the river was very kind to him. However, Sauce would not change his style just from one beat, he continued being very aggressive and floated when he could:

And of course it had to be JM that he doubled up. One person you never want to count out is the drunk chef, flomo! His play is erratic (so he says) but he won a few early pots to get a decent stack going:

Geno was now the early chip leader with over 3200. Once the blinds hit the 25/50 level, the action almost became non-existent. Almost every hand became just a preflop raise with everyone folding, or just a cbet would take down every pot. However, there was a few hands every now and then with some action:

It isn’t everyday that AJ ties with JJ with A2345 on the board. GG Stars, that one made us laugh. Back to the other table, DCMirage was losing chips fast and finally found a hand to go with:

*** HOLE CARDS ***

LolTrappedU said, “plz”

BeeJall tanked down a bit and claims he folded an Ace, however I don’t know if there is truth in that statement. There hadn’t been much tough decisions so far this tournament, but I finally ran into one here:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to givememyleg [7c 5c]

Bender50: shows [9h Kh] (a straight, Six to Ten)
Bender50 collected 2150 from pot
givememyleg said, “noooooo”

If I would have just called, I don’t think spinswell would have been able to raise again. However, I just chose to fold rather than calling and having to c/f a blank turn. Also if I did hit my straight, it would be pretty obvious and might not get paid off. Regardless, Bender ended up tripling up and I would have beat spinswell.

Someone who hasn’t either ran or played well this season so far is GatorJH. He hasn’t gotten much going and this hand pretty much sums it up for him:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
flomosapien: folds
LolTrappedU: folds

DaChicagoKid said, “sorry gator”

DaChicagoKid said, “gg”

Standard shove for him, pushes into a monster, hits a great flop, then bricks. Gator finished in 11th place.

We were now on the final table bubble, and the action was picking up a bit. However, it was mainly just a raise preflop and fold sorta game. There were many people taking advantage of this, mainly Sauce. I was at his table and he was raising almost every other hand. I reshoved when I thought it was right (or when I had a hand ldo) but he was relentless! Eventually, we would have a big pot to determine who would make the final table, and I was just begging for someone to push this hand:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to givememyleg [Ks Kh]
spinswell: folds
Sauce123: folds
geno9: folds
Bender50: raises 1175 to 1325 and is all-in
givememyleg: calls 1175
*** FLOP *** [4d Ad Ts]

*** TURN *** [4d Ad Ts] [8h]

*** SHOW DOWN ***
Bender50: shows [8c As] (two pair, Aces and Eights)
givememyleg: shows [Ks Kh] (a pair of Kings)
Bender50 collected 2650 from pot

“weuihwq978eg98ewqg” is how I felt after that hand. This left me with just 900 chips, and I found an ace a couple hands later, and Bender would try to finish me off:

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to givememyleg [2d Ah]
givememyleg: raises 880 to 1030
spinswell: folds
Sauce123: folds
geno9: folds
Bender50: calls 880
*** FLOP *** [8s 9d 6c]

givememyleg: calls 1 and is all-in
givememyleg said, “bye”
*** TURN *** [8s 9d 6c] [Qh]

givememyleg: shows [2d Ah] (a pair of Nines)
Sauce123 said, “later”
Bender50 collected 2137 from pot

So the donk givememyleg would be the final table bubble boy and we were now down to 9. Here were the chip stacks as the final table began:

Seat 1: Sauce123 (3366 in chips)
Seat 2: LolTrappedU (2209 in chips)
Seat 3: xxJimmyMacxx (3285 in chips)
Seat 4: BeeJall (1393 in chips)
Seat 5: geno9 (2934 in chips)
Seat 6: DaChicagoKid (3089 in chips)
Seat 7: Bender50 (3756 in chips)
Seat 8: flomosapien (2054 in chips)
Seat 9: spinswell (1914 in chips)

It was much different than past Gauntlets because no one was a monster chip leader. Everyone was actually fairly close in chip counts so it was still anyones game. The all-ins would start much sooner than expected, starting with JM owning on spenda:

When you get it in with AK against AK and flop a huge freeroll! However, the club didn’t come and it went chop chop. It didn’t take long for people to start giving their chips to Jimmy Mac, and why wouldn’t he win a big pot to become the chip leader?

Of course, it was Jimmy Mac! He now pulled ahead of Sauce with 11k, Sauce had 10k, and geno had some work to do with 3k. With such deep stacks, JM and Sauce were playing some postflop, and then this hand came up:
