With only 5 games left, many people have reached the end of their Gauntlet VI tournaments. Game 20 said goodbye to one more and said hello to a few others. If you are not sure what the Gauntlet is, be sure to click on the word “Gauntlet” to find out and register. Basically, it is FTR’s own private league where we donk around and have fun. You will see in a lot of the hand histories there is some bashing/talking, and that’s because we all know each other and have a good time. If you haven’t already, register and play with us next game. After reading the summary, make sure to see who won this games award for “lol cooleraments” which will be the cooler of the night, “wtf was he thinking” which will be the questionable play of the night, along with “beat of the night” which will be the worst beat.

Game 20 was the final game for yours truly, givememyleg, and I hoped to go out with a bang. I knew that it was nearly impossible to win the league, but still would be nice to finish strong. It was also Fimanoid’s last game for the season last week at game 19, and he almost took it down placing second; would be nice to repeat what he did! As for new people saying hello to, newcomers Jishu (Poker Stars reidak), and philly and the phanatics (Stars b0bbybythelb) played their first games of the season. A total of 18 came out, including the return of the mega donk kmind (Stars toddanderson), the wheeeeeeing chardrian, the always donkalicious kingnat, the drunk flomo, the donator Miffed22001, and FTR’s lady friend courtiebee (who desperately is trying to beat her crush swiggidy). Before we go any further, here is the leaderboard prior to the start of Game 20:

FTR Name – GP – Points / Change
Jimmy Mac – 10 – 691.24 / 0
givememyleg – 11 – 610.53 / 0
Fimanoid – 12 – 529.45 / +3
spin_md – 9 – 499.14 / -1
ackthecat – 11 – 497.31 / -1
Bender50 – 10 – 490.45 / +2
Shifubowa – 10 – 485.38 / -2
bigspenda73 – 11 – 454.30 / +1
geno9 – 8 – 439.14 / -2
Isop – 8 – 435.42 / +2

As we are nearing the end of the season we see that there are many small changes from places 3-10. A lot of people are now in the double digits for games played, and many are nearing their final game. Fimanoid moved up to third place with this final game of the season, finishing 2nd. Bender, Spenda, and Isop also had a couple spots moved up from decent finishes last week. It will be interesting to see who finishes above who in the final 5 games!

Unlike previous Gauntlet’s, game 20 started off fast. There were many big pots early on, and people just kept seeming to get the best of me:

For starters let’s take a moment to laugh at me getting owned. Done? Well, for starters I had no idea who reidak was (later I find out he is FTR’s Jishu), and he just played the hand like a donk would with a monster. I could have bet the flop to see if I really was up against AA or AK (or even the rare KK), but decided to check behind. The weak turn lead just confused the hell out of me and I got pwned on the river when I folded with no heart, and Jishu showed queen high. Nice play sir. This started my downfall, next up to own gmml would be swiggidy:

Honestly with my stack size and his raise I probably should have just folded preflop, but after being shown a hige bluff with queen high I was in no mood to fold. My initial plan was to c/r the flop allin, but he didn’t let me. I hated the ace on the turn, but it gave me a fd so I called. On the river I almost called the rest of my chips because it was an ace or nothing, but decided to wait for a better spot. FU swigg. I then went on life tilt shoving every hand I wanted to play, and eventually you will see why kmind is a donk:

Chardrian makes what looks like would be a good play to fold out a better ace, but somehow b0bby finds a way to call with Ace Queen high; and it was the right call. This ridiculously sick call sent the table crazy and chardrian out in 16th place. Later b0bby said he put him squarely on AT-AJ which is a mega soul read! As chardrian exited he said “I still can’t figure out if that was a really good or really bad call,” to which b0bby answered, “Probably really bad.”

Back to the other table, it seemed things had calmed down a bit as people were playing very friendly poker:

This has been one of the fastest gauntlets to date and with players so deep we could actually see some postflop play between two of the chip leaders:

And when there is postflop involved, Alexos probably has an advantage. Regardless it was still fun to see all the postflop action rather than just shoving preflop. However, shortly after when the blinds reach 50/100, some players had little choice:

Courtiebee won the flop and SandbaggerJO was your bubble boy, in 10th place. We were now at the final table and here were the chip stacks:

Seat 1: toddanderson (6458 in chips)
Seat 2: courtiebee (3215 in chips)
Seat 3: flomosapien (2964 in chips)
Seat 4: kingnat (3975 in chips)

The donk of all donks kmind still had the chip lead with 6500, kingnat in second with 4000, and b0bby was chillin’ with 3600. Spinswell was the only one who was in real bad shape after that pot with Alexos, with only 782. Not sure why kmind was calling for an ace, because that flop had spins drawing dead after Jishu flopped quads! Talk about knowing how to flip a coin! After not getting much going, Spinswell was the first gone, in 9th place. Don’t think Jishu was done there, not even close:

Jishu now has my crowning of the sickest player in a Gauntlet Game so far! This guy loves to bluff, even when he could be drawing dead. After this hand it was the first break and Mr Donk was still your chip leader with 7301, Jishu had worked his way up to second with 4076, and Miffed was in third with 3414. Only a couple hands after break, Alexos found a good ace and went with it, only to run face first into b0bby’s AK:

With not much chips he had to go for it there, and too bad for him because he took 8th place. With 7 left we now got to see more postflop action, but it was pretty boring when it got checked through:

Also one thing I noticed was the amount of re-raises happening at this table. The final table as a whole was one of the most agro one’s in a long time, and hardly any pot would go uncontested:

I again have no idea what to say about b0bby’s call here. Again he was check raised allin and made the call with not much of a hand. Jishu was probably sick when he say the call, but when he say what he was up against he was very happy and became the new chip leader. B0bby had shown he didn’t like to give up pots, so it was a sick play from Jishu.

Again, kingnat was able to use his image to his advantage and score a double up:

This sent philly and the phanatics (Poker Stars b0bbybythelb) out in 7th place. All of this happened in just the first 15 minutes of the final table, and this was definitely the most action we have seen at a FT in a long time. With just 6 remaining, here is how the chips were distributed:

Seat 1: toddanderson (6718 in chips)
Seat 2: courtiebee (2070 in chips)
Seat 3: flomosapien (2364 in chips)
Seat 4: kingnat (4803 in chips)
Seat 7: Miffed22001 (3797 in chips)
Seat 8: reidak (7248 in chips)

Jishu had some nice hands and was now the chip leader with 7248, followed by the worst player I’ve ever known kmind with 6718, and kingnat was holding his own with 4803. Courtie and flomo would have to work something out as the blinds were not 100/200 and they had just 10 bbs to work with.

It seemed once this level has been hit the action had be lifted, or maybe peoples crazy pills have worn off. There were now a lot of preflop raise or pushing without anything else. Raise fold poker started to fall upon the table until this crazy 5 way limped pot:

Jishu decided to slow play his trips and it worked against courtie who turned an oesd. She knew how active Jishu had been and thought she had a lot of fold equity, however she missed the river and was eliminated in 6th place. During her elimination people started talking about flomo’s dinner parties and he invited everyone over (we will hold you to it drunk chef!) Speaking of flomo, he was now the next target being the short stack, but that didn’t stop him from playing back with the short stacks ultimate weapon; the all-in.

However Jishu can not miss! Miffed was done in 5th place and now we were down to 4. No one was really dominating between them (Jishu, kingnat, kmind, flomo) and they were all regularly stealing. However Jishu had to make sure to get some bluffs in:

It was a tough run for flomo when it got down to three way, and he finished in 3rd. We were now down to heads up, and Jishu (reidak) had a 3:2 chip lead over kmind (toddanderson):

Seat 1: toddanderson (10259 in chips)
Seat 8: reidak (16741 in chips)

With the action I had seem out of these players, and larger blinds (200/400/25) I expected this to be another one of the quick heads up battles. However, it turned out to be a very good match, with hands going both ways:

The ole check/raise didn’t work there for Jishu, and kmind is lucky he didn’t stab! Kmind wasn’t going to go down quietly, as he started to push back:

But Jishu won the coinflip and became the Gauntlet VI Game 20 champion! It was a very nice even heads up match and was fun to watch. Congrats to both players, and special shoutout to kmind, I bashed him throughout this summary, but he’s a good player and I knew he could take it. (However I will seek my revenge in blinds man bluff later!) Now for the hands of the night:
