It was NFL Sunday and only 13 people showed up for Game 21 of the Gauntlet. With a lot of players seasons coming to an end, I suspect these last few games will have a pretty low turnout. If you are not sure what the Gauntlet is, be sure to click on the word “Gauntlet” to find out and register. Basically, it is FTR’s own private league where we donk around and have fun. You will see in a lot of the hand histories there is some bashing/talking, and that’s because we all know each other and have a good time. If you haven’t already, register and play with us next game. After reading the summary, make sure to see who won this games award for “lol cooleraments” which will be the cooler of the night, “wtf was he thinking” which will be the questionable play of the night, along with “beat of the night” which will be the worst beat.

There was only one retiring their season this week, ackthecat. I hope for her sake that she did not go out with a “bang” like I did last week! This was the second to last game for a few others, including the leader Jimmy Mac, spin_md, biondino, and Shifubowa. Some others that showed up included Anosmic, I Like Pie, Alexos, TLR, the self proclaimed donkey Isop, and Jessica Alba’s number one fan courtiebee. Oh I can also not forget to mention the donk of all donks, kmind. Before we start the kmind bashing, let’s have a look at the leaderboard prior to game 21:

FTR Name – GP – Points / Change
Jimmy Mac – 10 – 691.24 / 0
givememyleg – 12 – 637.11 / 0
spin_md – 10 – 536.73 / +1
Fimanoid – 12 – 529.45 / -1
ackthecat – 11 – 497.31 / 0
Bender50 – 10 – 490.45 / 0
Shifubowa – 10 – 485.38 / 0
kmind – 7 – 478.39 / +4
geno9 – 9 – 471.70 / -1

There wasn’t as much of a change as last week, but you can see kmind had a decent jump from his luckboxed second place finish in game 20. Other than that, nothing much happened. Let’s see how kmind tries to give away his chips this week.

This game was the first ever for FTR rookie hershy253, however he started off strong like most of us FTR boys picking on courtie:

Courtie later said she folded an under pair. There wasn’t really much happening at the tables, everyone was being complete nits! With only 13 people starting, we were shorthanded at both tables, but everyone was just folding. Most pots were taken down by a preflop raise and a c bet, so it was pretty boring to watch. I was waiting for something to happen, and just then the table woke up:

The funny thing about this hand is biondino (efil4elbmow) decided to give his buddy Anosmic and little slow roll. He timed down about 20 seconds before calling with the second nuts. Or maybe that nit was thinking about folding? Regardless, biondino won the biggest pot so far and Anosmic was your early short stack. It seemed all of the action was on this table, and hershy kept making his presence felt:

What a sick push, I have no idea what his thought process was here but it got donk mind to fold! (Later he said he mucked 87 here). As the blinds made the small jump from 10/20 to 15/30, hershy was still dominating the table, increasing his stack whenever he could:

They don’t care about no flushes, 2 pair was good enough for them. This left spins with just 350 chips and a lot of work to do.

Back to the other table, we saw an all-in and hershy was involved, so who do you think won?

But alas it was TLR! Hershy had shown that he did not like to fold ever, and TLR took advantage of that with this top set. After this hand, we saw nothing except an insane amount of 3 bets. It seemed everytime someone raised, there was always someone else to re-pop them:

Pretty interesting call on the flop, but his straight got there and he took down another pot from Hershy. With all the 3betting, people start over valuing their hands and then get 4bet crazy. Here we see what happens when biondino makes a 3bet at a bad time:

*** HOLE CARDS ***

Alexos got a much needed double up and this sent biondino down to the short stack. Back to the other table, there were a few rivalry’s being made between kmind and spins, and ackthecat and I Like Pie:

Remember the slow roll early on from biondino? Well it would be sweet justice for Anosmic, who eventually got his payback:

Anosmic’s pair of tens held and sent biondino to the rail in dead last, 13th place. 40 minutes in Anosmic was your chip leader with 2700, followed closely by Alexos at 2400, and Pie was at 2000. Now, just like before, both tables started going 3bet crazy!

But too bad for him (but good for Isop!) that he lost the flip. This left him with just 300 chips and he didn’t have much to pick from, but decided 82o was good enough!

*** HOLE CARDS ***

It was better, but he still couldn’t get anything from it. He was your 11th place finisher and we were on the final table bubble. It wasn’t like it was much of a “bubble” as we only started with 13 players. Right after Shif’s elimination, Pie seeked revenge against ack:

That sent my donk friend out in 10th place and we now had our final table! When it started, here is how it looked:

Seat 1: alexos888 (1573 in chips)
Seat 2: Anosmic (2906 in chips)
Seat 3: Isopbc (2100 in chips) out of hand
Seat 4: Forty2u (1250 in chips)
Seat 5: spinswell (1588 in chips)
Seat 6: xxJimmyMacxx (3200 in chips)
Seat 7: C2Knuckles (2317 in chips)
Seat 8: courtiebee (1571 in chips)
Seat 9: ackthecat (2995 in chips)

With the blinds at 50/100 no one was in too rough of shape, and Jimmy Mac had them all covered with 3200. It didn’t take long, just the second hand in, for us to see the first all-in:

Nh indeed, but not so nice for spins, who was gone in 9th place. Now it looked like it was going to be an extremely fast paced FT because just two hands later, we saw another all-in, this time from Miss Bee:

We all make mistakes, but Alexos learns to suck out when he does! That sick beat put Isop out in 7th and Alexos was now your chip leader. Just 10 mintues into the final table and we were already down to 6! Here were the chip positions:

Seat 1: alexos888 (6774 in chips)

Seat 6: xxJimmyMacxx (2625 in chips)

Alexos has lucked his way up to a nice lead, while Anosmic was sitting in 2nd. Being in second place and losing a big pot to Alexos earlier, Anosmic wanted his revenge:

What a sick hand! Not only did this eliminate Knuckles (I Like Pie) in 3rd place, but Anosmic tripled up and took a huge lead to start heads up action. With the blinds at 100/200/25, a 3:1 chip disadvantage wasn’t as bad as it sounded:

But ack still had to make something happen. But both player’s didn’t want it to. If I had to rate the action of all heads up matches so far this season, this match would be DEAD LAST! Either both players were being nits, or were just getting terrible cards. It was a battle of button raise + fold, almost every single hand.
