Event 3 of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series 9 was the first of its kind. It was the first ever 4x shootout that the series has ever seen, but with a twist because it was also shorthanded. Not quite knowing what to expect, Full Tilt gave the $216 buy-in a $250,000 guarantee. However, 1,296 players came to try their luck, making the prize pool over $259k and awarding $45k of that to the winner.
This event was hosted by the red pro Greg Mueller, aka FBT (Full Blown Tilt). He is a former professional hockey player turned poker pro and has since made WSOP and WPT final tables. Unfortunately for him, we would not see a host win as he finished in 680 out of the money. The pros that had the best showing were TheWacoKidd in 98th, Josh Arieh in 90th, Steve Zolotow in 52nd, Scott Clemens in 46th, Scott Fischman in 45th, and leading the back was the young at heart Stuart Paterson in 39th. None of them broke the bank with their finish, but Paterson’s 39th place earned him $777.
But there were 6 players who were set on a good pay day, and the final table was worth at least $6,220. After all the shootouts, stacks restarting, and blinds going up and down, CapTinBisKuiT defeated THEROBBOB20 heads up and collected over $45k for his FTOPS victory!
