Following one of the most publicized losing stretches of his career, poker pro Gus Hansen is back on the attack.

After suffering an astonishing $3.6 million in losses earlier in 2010, the “Great Dane” has posted an almost equally impressive winning tally over the past few weeks. Playing diverse games such as $200/$400 PLO, $500/$1,000 7 Card Stud, and $1,000/$2,000 HORSE.

One of the main victims of Hansen’s hot run was Luukie21, who had been on an impressive streak of his own. Before sitting down with the Full Tilt pro, the anonymous online gamer had managed to earn $200K over the past week. But after an extended session of $500/$1,000 Pot Limit Omaha, the newcomer discovered just how dangerous it is to underestimate Hansen. When all was said and down, he had gouged Luukie21 for an incomparable $595,000.

This win comes on the heals of a $600K run last week, plus an additional $123K in earnings on the weekend. Hansen is riding a $1.2 million surge, putting a huge dent in his losing campaign.

In the “moral victory” category, Hansen also moved out of another dubious spot with his recent wins. Following the recent gains, he is no longer the losingest player of 2010. Now wearing the crown of shame is Brian Townsend, who is down somewhere between $2.5 and $3.5 million.
