Gus Hansen had a good week on the tables this week, booking almost a million dollars in winnings in one day. Over half of the winnings were on the Hold’em table, but a large portion also came from playing Omaha.
Gus’ biggest win of the week came against fellow Full Tilt pro Brian Hastings at the always entertaining RailHeaven table. Hastings raised first to $3k, only to be re-raised by Gus from the small blind. Hastings called and the flop came 9d 3s 5c. Gus bet out $16k and was smooth called by Hastings. The turn came the 4s and Gus pushed in his entire $200k stack. Hasting called and showed 9s 7s which was about 40% to win against Hansen’s Kh Kd. The river brought the 4d and Gus scooped up the almost $450k pot.

Gus’ second biggest pot of the day also came on the Hold’em table, this time against Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan. Durrrr raised from under the gun and Gus reraised to $11k only to have durrrr push his entire stack of more than a million dollars into the pot. Gus thought about it for a bit and then called, showing down a pair of tens to durrrr’s AK. Gus managed to dodge the aces and kings in the deck and took down the $228k pot.

Another ‘moderate’ sized pot Gus took down playing Hold’em was just over $100k. LarsLuzak raised it up preflop and was called by Gus who had position. The flop came Jc 7c Qd and LarsLuzak bet out a little over $5k. Gus re-raised to $13k and was called. The turn brought the Jh and LarsLuzak checked to Gus who pushed all in for almost $35k. LarsLuzak called and showed Kd Qs which was in trouble against Hansen’s Js 8c. The river was a king but wasn’t enough to stop Gus from taking down the pot.

Gus’ other big wins of the day came from the pot limit Omaha tables, the biggest of which was a three-way pot with David Benyamine and THEDONKEY01. With a call from THEDONKEYNO1 and David Benyamine in front of him, Gus raised the pot and was called by LarsLuzak and both the limpers. The flop came 4d Td 5s. LarsLuzak checked and THEDONKEYNO1 bet out $7600 and David Benyamine pushed his entire $31k stack into the middle. Gus then followed suit and pushed his stack in, raising it another $7k. Gus showed 9s Jd 6s Qd, THEDONKEYNO1 showed 5d 3s 6c Ac and Benyamine showed As Ts 3d 6h. Benyamine was ahead at the moment with top pair and open ended straight draw. THEDONKEYNO1 had a pretty large straight draw and GUS basically was only left with a flush draw. The turn dropped the 8d onto the board which gave Gus the flush and the almost $95k that was in the pot.

The last big pot for Gus came against LarsLuzak at a deep stack 200/400 PLO table. LarsLuzak raised from early position preflop and was re-raised by Hansen. LarsLuzak called and the flop came 4d Qc 7h. Gus put out a bet of almost $10k and LarsLuzak pushed for another $30k. Gus called and showed As 6s Kd 5d which was behind LarsLuzak’s Tc Ah Qd 6c. The turn, however, brought a king for Gus to take the lead and a 5 on the river sealed the deal as Hansen raked in a $90k pot.
