There is an exciting news for those fortunate poker fans living in the Montreal area. A poker festival organized by Full Tilt Poker kicked off with its first event at the Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake – just outside Montreal – on September 21.

A novel, casual fan – friendly format, will feature 17 events through October 3 with buy-ins from C$50 and up to C$1,000 for the Main Event. Click here for the full schedule.

The first event, a C$135 + C$15 No Limit Hold’em broke all the attendance records for the venue attracting 1,605 contestants and doubling the C$100,000 guaranteed prize pool.

The alluring parts of the whole concept are, of course, the festival idea meaning fun and socializing and the very democratic fees – with the possibility to rebuy for those who want to pad their odds. With the chance to hang with all those pros that have already announced participation, that C$50 minimum fee to get in will be money well spent – win or lose.

The principal attraction, the Main Event, will take place on October 3, but will have three start days to give players a chance to enter up to three times. You have to remember though, that you will be only allowed to take your biggest stack to the final day.

Some of the biggest names in poker will be seen in the main event: Full Tilt Poker Professional Gus Hansen, Ambassadors Andras Nemeth, Dermot Blain, Martins Adeniya and Danielle Anderson, as well as the Team PokerStars contingent in Vanessa Rousso, Victor Ramdin, David Williams and none other than former WSOP Main Event champ Chris Moneymaker. Concluding the notables’ lineup is Canada’s own Jonathan Duhamel.

Full Tilt Poker will provide a live stream beginning with Day 2 of the action with the commentary by the ‘voice-of poker” Jesse May. There will also be live updates of all the action in the Main Event at  http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/blog/tour/full-tilt-poker-net-montreal-festival/.
