Sunday is traditionally the biggest day in the online poker week. With all the high guarantee Sunday Major tournaments, and the cash games that can spin off those, many fortunes have been won and lost online on a Sunday.

But with so many of the usual high stakes regulars currently bracelet hunting in the Nevada desert, I was surprised to see Viktor Blom had been able to get nearly a 1000 hand day in at the higher limits online.

He must have been playing against some of the lesser well known players, as without most of his usual clientele, Viktor would have needed to plough some virgin fields.

Viktor’s Sunday at work started at a $500/$1000 $30k Cap heads up table against “Trueteller.” The two played 130 hands against each other, and the action was not in Viktor’s favour. “Trueteller” won out for a $99,280 profit. We have some of the big hands in the video below:

Viktor left the computer alone for a while after this, and had a seven hour break. When he came back, he was sat at the $200/$400 $16k Cap PLO tables against “samrostan” and “POKERBLUFFS.” The action was over 638 hands, and while Blom was able to make a $19,562 profit from the first table, the second table had the most hands at 420, and unfortunately for the Swede, it also had the biggest losses. Viktor dropped $111,982 here, with the majority seemingly going to the unknown “POKERBUFFS.” We caught some of the action, and have some of the bigger hands below:

After this disastrous action, Viktor took a short forty minute break, and cam back to play Isildur1 Watch regular, “SallyWoo” heads up at a $2k/$4k FLO8 table. Over the next hour, they played 146 hands, and Blom was able to mitigate some of his earlier losses on the day, and pick up $105,964 from the limit specialist. We missed thi action, so no video here I’m afraid.

This action brought Viktor’s Sunday of work to a close, and he had a $85,736 loss to go in the books. Viktor has been playing small amounts recently, so his yearly profits have moved about, but are now sitting at $3,040,602.

I have to say that this Sunday wasn’t a great day for Viktor. Ignoring the monetary value of the day, Viktor seemed to play long losing sessions of both PLO and NLHE before he managed to save the day (to a certain extent) by beating “SallyWoo.”

The bigger looking mistake of the two was the long PLO session. While I’d normally agree that Viktor has an edge over both of the other two players sat there, on this given day, it’s apparent he didn’t. Why he played 638 hands in a losing spot is something only Viktor can answer.

This is the first little glimpse we’ve seen of the Viktor of old for quite some time. It wasn’t a full on spiral out of control, but I think Blom may have been starting down that route. It could be that his new attitude kicked in a little late, but whatever happened, he did mange to get out of the hole he had dug himself into.

Viktor has been playing today as well, so we’ll have to hope he has found a mindset that allows him to make the most of the fish pond while most of the other predators are away on holiday.
