Don’t look now, but the internet’s most reckless high stakes player is back.

The anonymous Swedish millionaire has been playing under the name “Grolongo”, facing off with such names as Phil “MrSweets28” Galfond and Brian “Stinger88” Hastings. The game of choice has been a high stakes marathon of Pot-Limit Omaha, rather than the somewhat more standard No-Limit Hold’em.

Though largely remembered for his losing streak of several million dollars, Isildur1/Grolongo has shown himself to be one of the most dangerous men in the game. His storied battles with Tom “durrr” Dwan have yielded up some huge pots, and he’s taken more than $4.5 million off of Dwan over 50,000 heads-up hands at the Full Tilt tables.

Anonymity has been part of his mystique as a player, with an absolute insistence upon having his name withheld from the public. He has been widely courted by live tournament directors, though he has yet to make an appearance under the camera lights. It’s not terribly surprising, when one considers the huge swings in his winnings.

One thing is certain, however. The man (Isildur1 has been confirmed to be male) has got some serious talent. He began with a bankroll of only $2,000 in January of 2009. From there, he built himself up to be one of the biggest names in the digital game. His record wins and losses are the stuff poker dreams are made of, regardless of the recent downswing in his finances.

So perhaps PokerStars will prove to be a fresh start for the young player. By changing his surroundings, he may be able to get back to the craftiness which made him such a dependable winner. Either way, it’ll be fun to watch.
