Viktor Blom, better known to the online poker world as Isildur1, clashed with online qualifier DodgyFish72 in the fifth PokerStars SuperStar Showdown. In the closest Showdown to date, Isildur1 won by just $10 after 2500 hands of $5/$10 NL Hold’em!

DodgyFish72, who’s actual name is Atilla Gulcsik, was the big winner, despite losing the actual showdown. The Hungary native was given $15,000 for the competition after he qualified to play through an $11 satellite. Since online challengers get to leave with whatever is left of the $15,000 bankroll given to them by Stars, leaving down $10 dollars means that Gulcsik ended up taking home $14,990 for his efforts.

Early in the match, Blom looked as if he would quickly dismantle the amateur. Through a combination of running well and playing well, Blom jumped out to a huge lead of over $9,000 in the first 1,000 hands of the 2,500 hand match. The tables quickly turned as Blom’s play became increasing erratic.

One example on the erratic play was a hand late in the match. DodgyFish72 opened on the button and Isildur1 3-bet. DodgyFish72 4-bet shoved over with AJ for 150bb, and Isildur1 called and showed 73s! Unfortunately for Dodgyfish72, after a flop of KKQ , and a turn of 2, the river came a 3 of diamonds, giving Isildur1 the $3,130 pot.

Isildur1 will continue to take on any competitors as the PokerStars SuperStar Showdown continues. Players can buy in directly or qualify through online satellites to get their chance to defeat Isildur1 and become a PokerStars SuperStar!
