So, Wednesday the 12th of June has given us a few interesting things to talk about in regards to our friend Viktor Blom. He played across about 11 hours of the day, and got in over 1200 hands of action, so playing volume is not an issue. Viktor has always been a workman, willing to put in the work he sees is needed to be successful. He just seems to have a dodgy switch about when it’s time to turn off that work ethic.

Viktor started off his Wednesday at work at the $200/$400 $16k Cap PLO tables, when he played out 767 hands across these tables against players including Hac “trex313” Dang, Rob “Vaga_Lion” Akery and “no-Ola.” We split the action up into three “mini sessions.” The first was a 93 hand 3 table affair, and cost Viktor $35,417. After a short break, Viktor was back at it, and played a single table session for 75 hands for a $73,045 profit, and this merged into the third session where three tables of action saw 599 hands. Blom played out for a profit of $227,520 in this third and final PLO session of the day, for a total profit in the game of $265,148. We have some of the action in the video below:

Next up was a battle against Isildur1 Watch regular “SallyWoo” at FLO8. These two have been playing each other a lot this year, and honours are probably about even between these high stakes players. Yesterday saw 243 hands of action between these two, split over 4 “mini sessions.” The first 65 hand session went in Viktor’s favour, giving him a $64,984 profit, but the second more than reversed that with Sally taking $70,006 over 38 hands. The third session saw “SallyWoo” take dominance over the matchup, and make a $137,030 profit from 126 hands. The last session added another $74,002 to the deficit when Sally won out over 14 hands. We have some of the action from this battle that ended up costing Viktor Blom $216,054 below:

No Limit Hold’em was the next thing on Viktor’s agenda, starting with 27 hands of $500/$1000 $30k Cap action. Blom’s opponent for this action was “SanIker,” and Viktor won out by taking a $15,996 profit from the session. Viktor played another 18 hands of NLHE action, these at the $300/$600 levels, and they cost Blom $25,998.

Our Swedish hero also got in some action at the FLO8 6-Max tables, but only 37 hands against players including Gus Hansen and Patrik “FinddaGrind” Antonius. The small session cost Viktor $73,293.

The only other action of the day was at the 2-7TD tables, and also involved Gus Hansen. 127 hands were all the action at these tables, and Viktor played out for a $138,621 profit, mainly for Gus. We have some of the action in the video below:

Wednesday the 12th of June saw Viktor post a profit of $104,420, taking his yearly profit line up to $3,214,312.

This action may have shown Viktor a profit, but it does have some rather concerning points embedded into Viktor’s working day. The day started well with Viktor Crushing the PLO Cap games, and continued to go well with a pair of FLO8 sessions breaking even, a profit from the NLHE battle against “SanIker,” and a crushing of Gus Hansen at the 2-7TD tables. That was the point that saw the tide turn against Blom, with “SallyWoo” doing most of the damage, along with Patrick Antonius making money at the 6-Max FLO8 table. Viktor dropped from having a $414,743 profit on the day to just the $104,420 in a matter of 195 hands. That has to concern Viktor, it certainly would concern me. I don’t have all the hands to analyse, and I’m not a top flight poker player, so I don’t know if Viktor was just running badly, or if he had let his game face slip. I’m inclined towards the latter, but in the games he was playing, the former is more than possible.

We’ll have to keep an eye on this over the coming weeks before Viktor Heads off for a break in Las Vegas (He has to be going, right?), but I’m still impressed how much better he’s been over the recent weeks and months.
