I’m not sure if I’m alone, but it seems strange that Viktor Blom isn’t sitting in Las Vegas playing in high stakes cash games or making some recreational player’s dreams come true by sitting down next to him at a WSOP Bracelet event. In an industry that defines players worth by how many titles they hold, you would have thought Viktor would want to try and pick up a few new shiny gold baubles. It may be of course that Viktor is being practical, and making hay while the sun is shining,  with so many players off at the WSOP, he is currently the big fish in a smaller pool, and should be able to make the most of the action he can find. The only draw back is, Viktor isn’t the only one who’s doing this, and other top flight names are still playing online rather than sitting in the Rio Casino in Las Vegas.

Viktor started off his day playing FLO8 at a $1k/$2k table against relative unknown “Carlooo13.” Viktor may be having a hard time getting a game against his usual crowd, as a lot of them have made the trip to the NevadaDesert. The two battled it out over 562 hands, and while “Carlooo13” took an early lead, he was pegged back by Viktor to only a $12,134 win. We have some of the action from the matchup in the video below:

Next up was more FLO8 action, this time against Patrik “FinddaGrind” Antonius, and the two played a massive 7 hand session at a 6-Max nosebleed table. The result was a Blom win for $35,996, and on he went to his next opponent. This happened to be another well known Watch visitor in “SallyWoo.” These two sat at a FLO8 heads up table with the limits set at $2k/$4k and settled in for a grind. they played out for 396 hands, and Viktor was in the ascendancy, as he won $127,850 from the mysterious player. We caught some of the action and have a little video package for you to open below.

PLO was the name of the game for the rest of the day, and Blom was playing $500/$1000 $40k Cap against Hac “trex313” Dang. the action didn’t go in Viktor’s favour, and he lost $304,708 over 371 hands of PLO. One table saw the bulk of the losses, with $344,174 lost over 126 hands. We have some of the action in the video below:

This action gave Viktor a daily loss of $152,966, taking his yearly cash game profit figure to $3,061,316, dropping Viktor out of the top spot on the yearly leader board.

The action from yesterday was an interesting watch, with Viktor showing a profit before he stepped into the $500/$1000 Cap PLO ring, and lost a load to Dang. With just 126 hands from the total 1338 played removed from the equation, Viktor turns from a $150K+ loser, to a $150k+ winner.  Such are the fine lines that these players have to follow. The only thing I don’t like about the schedule of play for Viktor was the return to the PLO game against “trex313” after he had lost the big table. The two were sat at a single table for 94 hands, and it’s not hard to guess that Viktor didn’t make a profit here. in fact he dropped another $105,493 that in my mind was totally avoidable. Hac Dang seemed to have Viktor’s number at PLO yesterday, and going back into the breach is a small glimpse of the old Viktor Blom, who would probably still be playing, trying to chase his losses. At least that didn’t happen, and Viktor removed himself from the table after only 94 hands.

Maybe Viktor has gained some control of his demons, but as yesterday’s play shows, they still want to come out and play.
