Viktor Blom may have cause to dislike me. Ever since I suggested this series of articles to my editors, he has been haemorrhaging money like a stuck pig. I take no responsibility, but it certainly makes you think.

After an amazing start to his year, Viktor has dropped serious money now for 2 days running. It could be argued that his immense self belief could also be factor. He has been playing games at massive limits, against people who he doesn’t seem have the benefit of being able to beat, and at games that are not his traditional bread and butter.

After dropping just over $1 million on Sunday, mainly to Phil Galfond, Isildur1 was back at the tables today, mainly playing 2-7 Triple Draw at $1.5k/$3k and Fixed Limit Omaha 8(Hi/lo) at$2k/$4K.

Blom started off picking up a small $39k profit playing 2-7 TD, but this all came crashing down against Seb86, losing $126,122 in less than 15 minutes, and only stopping to drop nearly $44k in 8 hands of FLO8 to KPR16, was straight back to dropping another $40k to Seb.

For those of you new to 2-7TD, the aim of the game is to get the lowest hand possible from 5 cards, with 3 draws. A non flushed 2,3,4,5,7 is the nuts.

Blom finished the 1st table of 2-7TD against Seb with this hand:

Seb opened with a raise to $3k, and Blom called out of position. Blom drew 3 cards, and Seb followed suit. Blom checked, and Seb bet in position. Viktor smooth called behind, and proceeded to discard 2 more cards, and again, Seb took the same action.

Blom checked again, and Seb bet, making the pot $11,99.50, to which Viktor again called. Wth Viktor drawing 2 cards and Seb standing pat, the writing was on the wall with Viktor only having £3119.50 behind. A check, raise, and with a shove being as good as a call, we got to showdown with Blom showing 77852 for a pair of sevens, and Seb showing an 8 high lo to see all the chips sent his way.

What was really interesting with this was that Isildur didn’t seem to have anything left on Full Tilt to reload, and it took him 15 minutes to come back to another table against Seb.

The new table didn’t seem to improve Isildur1’s game, and the second phase of this heads up match lasted only 26 hands, with Blom dropping more to Seb.

While Isildur was filling Seb’s coffers at 2-7TD, he was also playing SallyWoo over at a FLO8 £2k/$4k table. For an hour and a half these two played, with Isildur ending up dropping a significant $239,039 to Sally.

The first big hand we caught started with Blom raising on the button, and Sally flatting behind. The flop of 24Q brought a check from Sally, and a bet from Blom in position. Sally called again, bringing another Q, this time of clubs on the turn.

The betting pattern started the same way with a check, and a bet from Blom, but then Sally through out a re-raise, with Blom then capping the action, with Sally calling behind.

The river of the A seemed to slow Sally down again, and she checked over to Viktor, who obviously didn’t like the river, and checked behind. Blom’s 6249 giving him 2 pair had been beaten on the turn by Sally’s 77KA, and only got worse on the river with a better 2 pair.

The pot of £35,999.50 was shipped into Sally’s stack.

While the traffic was mainly going away from the enigmatic Swede, it wasn’t unidirectional.

Late in the session we picked up a hand where Sally opened from the button, with Viktor re-raising out of position. Sally called and we went to the flop of 52J, where Viktor continued with another bet, and Sally flatted behind.

The turn came a 4, completing wheel draws, and Blom kept up the aggression betting out, and this time instigating a raising war which ended up with Isildur1 capping the action. The 7 river didn’t seem to slow Blom down, and he bet again, getting a call from SallyWoo.

Blom showed 97A3 for the absolute nuts, scooping both the Hi and the Lo with the wheel straight. Sally mucked, and the $47999.50 pot was used to shore up Isildur’s dwindling stack.

The rest of the action pretty much only went in SallyWoo’s direction, with Blom only picking up profits in 5 out of the next 27 hands.

Given the day Blom was having you’d have though this would be the end of our report, but alas for the Swedish Master, that is not the case. For the last 45 minutes of his session against Sally, Blom was also playing Sauce1234 at a $250/$500 PLO table. He managed to drop another $212,478 over 107 hands. This was to a guy who had begged Viktor to drop down to play him only a few days ago!
Most of the damage seemed to happen at the end of the session where Blom only won three out of the last twenty one hands, ending with a massive $150k pot.

Blom was on the button, raised to $1700 (this was table that used antes of $100), Sauce called behind. A low flop of 232 hit the felt, closely followed by a check from sauce, and a bet of $2.5k from Blom. Sauce called out of position, and the turn came with the Queen of Clubs.

This brought another check from the American, and another bet from Viktor, this time for $7k, but rather than calling, this time Sauce re-raised to $21k, bringing a call from the Swede.

The river brought the 7, and continued aggression from Sauce and a pot sized bet of £50,600. Blom called, and mucked when he was shown QQ4T for Queens over twos.
This ended the session against Sauce, but still isn’t the end of our report.

Less than 5 minutes after ending both of his Omaha sessions against Sauce1234 and SallyWoo, Viktor was back at a 2-7TD table dropping another $65,402 to Seb86.

The only thing that really stands out from this session is Blom’s passive play. He was making a lot of calls, and going to showdown with hands that should probably not have gone that far.

After 30 minutes of losing more money than most of us will earn in a year, Viktor Blom quit for the day, down a massive $688,324. While he is still a massive winner on the year, the last 2 days have not been kind to our favourite Swede.

What may be of interest to High Stakes railbirds is that Phil Galfond was sitting towards the end of Blom’s session, but Viktor didn’t seem to want to sit against his friend. Maybe he was a little gun shy after dropping just over a million dollars to him the day before?
