Mike Matusow isn’t called ‘The Mouth’ for nothing. Two weeks ago, Matusow played a highly controversial hand with Hellmuth on Poker After Dark, although ‘played’ might be too generous a term. The majority response has condemned both players, but you can judge for yourself by watching the video below.

Since the episode aired, Matusow has defended his move. He commented on a negative Facebook post about his play, saying the following: “Yea well all them other guys don’t play on their own money. They cheat and equity chop everyone online. I don’t feel like playing $200k pots. Have nice day…Let everyone idolize Ivey. He plays on all of your guys’ money lol.”

These are gutsy comments which hint at a deeper knowledge of the Full Tilt Poker situation, and Phil Ivey’s somewhat suspect actions throughout 2011. Matusow has spoken against his former employer Full Tilt routinely, and clearly does not hold a soft spot for their biggest spokesman, Phil Ivey.

Matusow admits to being a bit of a nit, but in a way that’s respectable. He plays with his own money, and is straightforward about his financial situation. He would rather be a nit and hold onto his money than be a star-studded loose cannon living in a world of extreme variance. Recently, Matusow posted on his Facebook fan page, “I’m actively looking for someone to stake me full time on the tournament circuit. If anyone is interested please private message me (do not if you are not serious). The reason for this is there is a lot of variance on the tour and I don’t feel like going bust. Thank you all!”

Throwing Ivey under the bus, pulling money out of the pot, and posting about it on Facebook…that’s just another day for ‘The Mouth’!
