FTOPS XIX continues to roll on into its second weekend of play as more than 20 events are now in the books. A trio of tournaments took place yesterday including Event #18, a $100+$9 re-buy championship with a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool. The tournament was hosted by FullTilt sponsored professional Gary “the Choirboy” Jones, an Englishman who is a well known poker commentator in the UK. Jones was joined by 35 other FullTilt pros in Event #18 including Vitaly Lunkin, Scott Clements, and former WSOP Main Event Champion Carlos Mortensen. Jeff Madsen was the lone pro to crack the top-100 as he finished in 65th place for $1,015.75.
The tournament itself was a crazy one. With 1,969 entrants re-buying 2,660 times and adding on 1,346 at the break the prize pool swelled to nearly $600,000. The final table was highlighted by Geoffrey “Geoffras22” Rasmussen who is no stranger to FTOPS success having won Event #6 last August for a $94,776 payday. Unfortunately for Rasmussen he was not as fortunate early Sunday morning as he busted in 6th place for just $24,497. With deep stacks due to all the re-buys and add-ons, the tournament took some time to complete. Spanning more than 9 hours, Event #18 certainly proved to be one of the more entertaining tournaments in FTOPS XIX. The heads-up battle came down to “NatWork” and “platon197846” who decided to crush the suspense and take a chip-chop. After the deal was done platon197846 guaranteed himself the biggest piece of the pie, a $103,392 pay out for his victory. However, there was still some incentive left as the famous FTOPS Gold Jersey Avatar loomed for whoever could win the event. That honor eventually went to NatWork who took down the title and $100,952 in the process.
