Since the first of February, Paddy Power Poker has been in the throes of fierce competition in their Desert Storm promotion. When all is said and done, this massive $150,000 giveaway will be sending 20 players to the 2011 World Series of Poker.

Here’s how it works – by playing in qualifying tournaments over at Paddy’s players can move up their massive 500-spot leaderboard. Action runs through May 31, which affords plenty of time for new users to enlist in the planned Vegas invasion.

At the end of the four month stretch, Paddy Power Poker will reward the leaderboard’s top twenty players with a $5,000 WSOP package. Here’s the breakdown of the contents:

  • $1,000 buy-in to a WSOP Side Event
  • $650 accommodation over the period of the event
  • $2,000 executive perks package, including limo pickup to and from the airport, tickets to Cirque Di Soleil, and dinner for two at the Wynn’s SW Steakhouse
  • $1,300 for flights and other spending needs
  • $30 for handling fees

These are only the preliminary figures, but they’re certainly impressive nonetheless. According to their website, iPoker will finalize all the details once the WSOP has published their official schedule.

There are other benefits for those who finish outside the top 20, however. Paddy Power Poker has scheduled a trio of $2,500 Monthly Freerolls for all those who make the leaderboard. While the March event has already taken place, there’s still time to qualify for the April 3 and May 8 tournaments (both of which run at 16:30 GMT). First prize is worth $250, with a minimum payout of $10 for the 100th place finisher.
