Since breaking into this latest decade, it seems like online videos are the future of entertainment. As a fully paid up cyborg, I now watch more content online than I do on my TV screen. Even my favorite regular programming will usually pass me by until I catch it on the relevant channel’s content service.

The next vista is live streaming. Slowly, more and more industries are waking up to the possibilities of broadcasting events live over the internet and poker is no exception. Paddy Poker Poker is making this dream a reality for millions of poker fans across the globe.

The Irish Open is one of the oldest poker festivals in the world. Over the years it has been frequented by Doyle Bruson and Benny Binnion, and still attracts the cream of the poker crop. The event is famous for its raucous atmosphere; a taste of the craic for which the Irish are so famous.

Paddy Power is partnering with ‘the voice of poker’ Jesse May to bring poker fans a live stream of the entire event. There will be a squadron of media wizards joining Jesse at the event, patrolling the tournament area with notepads and cameras in hand. From a central studio, Jesse will anchor the reporting and comment on the live video from the Irish Open feature table.

“The Irish Open is my favourite tournament of the year and this year we’re giving online coverage of live poker a much-needed overhaul,” said the veteran commentator.

When the Main Event begins at 13:00 on April 22nd you’ll be able to watch it all unfold live on the PaddyPower website. A blog will keep you up to date with all the various excitement  and a live news ticker flashes up the latest headlines.

During the event there will be various exciting promotions on PaddyPowerPoker to keep you entertained while there’s some down time at the Open. iPad freerolls are ready to be released, alongside a reload bonus, and a chance to win World Series of Poker Experience.

Best of all, if you need to leave your sofa during the weekend you can take the Irish Open with you. You can watch the stream live using your iPhone, so wherever you happen to be, there’s no excuse not to be up to date with the goings on in the Emerald Isle.

The Irish Open runs from April 22nd – 25th at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin. The Main Event is a €3,200 + €300 No Limit Hold ’em freezeout that looks set to attract the biggest names in both live and online poker.
