After spending eight months searching for a new Chief Marketing Officer, PokerStars has named Alex Payne to the position. According to iGamingBusiness, Payne’s new duties will include “paid and organic searches, social media, regional customer relationship management and acquisition, conversion and retention campaigns for online and live poker players.”

“I’m delighted to be joining PokerStars.com,” he said. “I am joining an outstanding business, which is the clear leader in its category and has enormous potential ahead of it. Moreover, it’s a product in which I have a huge personal passion.”

Before landing the PokerStars position, Payne had most recently been employed at Microsoft. Over his eleven years with the computing giant, he managed to build a considerable name for himself. His previous position saw him spending most of his time in England as the Sales and Marketing Director for Bing in the UK. Before that, he put his MBA degree to good use for several major advertizing agencies. Among his former employers were such names as OgilvyOne and EHS Brann.

According to a published report, Payne will move his residence to the Isle of Man, where PokerStars operates its home base.
