Continuing his first-quarter surge, Phil Ivey has propelled himself to a $1 million-plus payday with a solid weekend at the Full Tilt tables.

Dan “jungleman12” Cates, who himself is making a push in a running of Tom Dwan’s “durrrr Challenge”, was the main victim on Ivey’s hit list. The action took place over a capped pot-limit Omaha table with blinds set at $500/$1,000. According to the rules, the maximum amount each hand could yield was a cool $80,000. By the end of the session, Ivey had snagged more than a dozen such victories.

In total, the powerful pro has snagged $1,069,000 since Friday. He’s currently in second place on the 2011 earnings leaderboard, trailing only the resurgent Gus Hansen.

Speaking of the Great Dane, Hansen put up a solid showing himself over the last week, earning a respectable $233,000. This recent upswing has pushed him over the $3 million mark, with total winnings of $3,063,000.

One of the year’s biggest losers was mention earlier – Tom Dwan. His most recent sessions ($200/$400 No Limit Texas Holdem) with Cates have been a struggle, with just over $120,000 sent the jungleman’s way. He’s presently down by just over $1 million, though there’s plenty of time for the talented shark to stage a rebound.
