PKR, the internet’s premier 3-D poker room, had recently launched a software update which allows users to play in a virtual version London’s Fox Poker Club.

For those not familiar with the ins and outs of PKR, here’s a brief primer. Imagine a poker room along the lines of Full Tilt or PartyPoker, complete with the ability to create your own three-dimensional avatar. Now, visualize a software system which allows you to take that avatar and position it at a table full of other avatars (all operated by real people). Add to this a set of intricate playing environments, and you essentially get an idea of what PKR has to offer.

Because of this customization and realism, the addition of new maps mimicking real-world arenas is cause for excitement.

“The whole team at the Fox Poker Club sees it as a flattering addition to the site,” said the venues Managing Director, Chris North. “Our members can now visit the club without leaving their computer screen and we’re hoping that a few more players on PKR.com are impressed with what they see and pop down for a game very soon.”

Until they do, North has expressed marked approval for the digital facsimile. Designers at PKR have done an excellent job recreating the atmosphere of the Fox Club, with 6,500 square feet worth of the establishment being recreated for online players. The new area even boasts tables and chips beating the Fox Club logo.

“I’m absolutely thrilled with how the three-dimensional poker room looks,” said North, “and just how similar it is to the real thing.”
