Poker Nordica, a member of the popular Merge Poker Network, has closed its doors. After weeks of unexplained silence, their representatives broke the news just days ago. With this closure, American players have one less option when it comes to choosing an online home.

According to PokerNewsDaily.com, players have long been aware of something fishy going on with Poker Nordica. Over the last several months, questions posed to their customer service department have gone unanswered. Users attempting to make contact through other channels (such as Twitter and Facebook) have been unable to get responses, as well.

The speculation ended with a brief email from the company, simply announcing that “We unfortunately need to close down Poker Nordica from April 1th [sic] 2012!” In this message, the writer briefly addressed the critical issue of withdrawals.

Players who’d like to get their hands on their bankrolls have two options. First, they can visit the link posted on the client login screen, which will take them to the cashier. From there, they can request a regular cashout. Conversely, players who have an account on another Merge Network poker site can request a transfer. To accomplish this, they’ll need to send an email to [email protected], explaining the situation and their wishes.

Users will have until the 1st of May to complete this process. Unfortunately, it seems as though few will actually be able to cash out. The site features a minimum withdrawal requirement of $115 ($100 of bankroll plus $15 in fees). So, anyone with a more modest sum of cash won’t be able to receive a check from the company. Balance transfers to other Merge sites should still work, however.

Prior to news of the shutdown, Poker Nordica had been second only to Carbon Poker as a member of the Merge Network. Now, without any concrete answers, players will be left wondering just what went wrong.
