On December 28th at 15:30 ET, PokerStars will attempt to take its place in the Guinness Book of World Records by hosting the largest online poker tournament field ever. If the field reaches its cap of 35,000 players, the record will be set.
So far, over 3,000 players have registered for the event. Players from all over are undoubtedly attracted by more than just the record attempt. The prize pool is guaranteed at $500,000, payouts start at 8,750th place, and the first place is $30,000.
The buy-in is also relatively low at just $10 + $1, so affordability to participate isn’t much of an issue. Now figuring out the math, at a cap of 35,000 players, that means there will be at least $150,000 in overlay!
Because of the anticipated larger structure, blinds are scheduled to increase every 10 minutes.
