The site will be hosting a VIP Player Point League (VPP League) from August 9 to September 8, where the players who earn the most VPPs will be rewarded with cash prizes. While this is sad for the rest of us, it’s great news if you come from one of these countries as your competition for the money has just been greatly reduced! To become a member of the league you’ll need to register in a fake tournament called ‘VPP League’ under the Private Tourney tab in your PokerStars Lobby. As you play real money ring games and tournaments on PokerStars you automatically earn VPPs. You’ll almost certainly be aware of this due to the other great promotions PokerStars runs as part of its VIP Club, such as Stellar Rewards. Basically, these rewards provide you with an incentive to play more poker than you otherwise would. With this new promotion PokerStars is not asking you to compete with just yourself any more, buy rather all other players in the league. To make it worth your while, the rewards just got better.
At the end of the month the top 500 VPP earners in the league will each receive a share of $40,000. Your share is calculated based on how many VPPs you earned as a percentage of the total VPPs earned by the top 500. For example, if the top 500 earned together a total of 100,000 VPPs and you as an individual earned 1,000 VPPS, or 1% of the total, then you’d be entitled to 1% of the $40,000 prize pool, which is $400. To make things even more exciting, the top 50 earners will receive cash prizes, in addition to their share of the $40,000, extra cash bonuses. These range from $25 all the way up to $450, so it’s definitely worth your while trying to be at the top of the list!
