PokerStars sponsors a great deal of tournaments all around the world during all parts of the year, and we’re getting towards the time when avid tournament players should start thinking about one of the hottest: The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Players who love sun, surf and sand as much as they love the game of poker itself are not going to want to miss out on this series of tournaments, which kicks off at the start of next year.

The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is a televised poker tournament which has taken place every year since 2004. While it was first co-sponsored by PokerStars and the World Poker Tour, the sponsors over the years have also included the European Poker Tour and the North American Poker Tour, with PokerStars always firmly behind the event. Since 2005, the Atlantis Resort and Casino, located on Atlantis Paradise Island, has been home to the Main Event and the ever-growing number of side events.

This time the fun and action kicks off on Thursday, January 6th, and will continue over the subsequent ten days. There are over fifty events scheduled to take place, including a High Roller event, a Ladies Event and a number of Heads Up Tourneys, so the real challenge will lie in finding time away from the tables to enjoy the luxurious surroundings. The wide range of events to cater to everyone’s tastes of course also means that the total combined prize pool for the PCA will be ridiculously large, drawing players from all around the world.

The largest pull is of course the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event, which is estimated to have a staggeringly large prize pool of $20,000,000. To give an indication, last year $2,200,000 was awarded for first place alone. A six day event is scheduled, with Day 1A kicking off on January 8th, and the final table being played out on Day 6 on January 14th. If you are unable to win your way into the event via the vast number of satellite tournaments running at PokerStars, then the entry will set you back $10,000 + $300, but when contrasted with how much money is up for grabs, this is truly a mere nothing.

As mentioned, there are satellite tournaments running on PokerStars to the Main Event, but just saying that doesn’t really do the sheer number of satellite’s nor the value of the prizes justice. Satellites have already started running daily and will continue to do so up until the event, and they start from as little as $1 or 100 Frequent Player Points. These run around the clock, there are over one hundred of them and prizes include entry into many different events, including the Main Event. There are both direct and steps satellite tournaments, both of which offer the chance to turn next to nothing into thousands of dollars in tournament entry fees.

As well as satellite tournaments, PokerStars will be running other promotions related to the Caribbean Adventure over the coming weeks. Currently the PCA Fantasy promotion is being run, and gives Sit & Go Players a shot at a $15,000 prize package which covers not only the buy-in to the Main Event, but also hotel accommodation at the Atlantis Resort and even your flights to the Bahamas! Start playing the 180, 90 and 45-man Sit & Go PCA Fantasy qualifiers for your shot at enjoying both the beautiful location and the tournament action without spending a penny of your own money!

There’s no doubt that the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is one of the hottest tournaments in the year. It’s hard to think of a better location than the Bahamas to get away from it all in the middle of winter, and the fact that there’s so much poker on offer almost seems like an added bonus to the holiday prospects. If you think you have what it takes then it would be well worth your time to head over to PokerStars and start registering for some PCA satellite tournaments.
