Pokerstars is bringing excitement to the felt by rolling out a test version of Zoom Poker. Currently the game is available on a test client for play money only, but the new game is planned to be released to the main site for real money action soon. The concept behind the fast-paced game is much like Rush Poker which was offered by the now-closed Full Tilt Poker.

Zoom Poker functions as follows: individual players join a player “cloud” and are randomly seated at a table. Players are offered the option of playing the hand dealt to them, or to fold immediately out of turn and move to another table. This means there is no time wasted waiting for hands to play out after folding a hand. This means more hands can be played on a per hour basis compared to normal ring games, with rates upwards of 200 hands per hour. Players can further increase the number of hands they can play by signing in with up to 4 “entries” into the cloud, which would be analogous to playing multiple tables at standard cash games.

The introduction of Zoom Poker reinforces Pokerstars as an industry leader in the online poker sector. With their already widely praised software, this new addition should help further boost their reputation. The test site is currently featuring only 6-Max No Limit Hold’em, but the lobby already features slots for Limit Hold’em, Pot-limit Omaha, Pot-Limit Omaha High/Low, and others. Players are required to already have a regular Pokerstars account if they wish to try out Zoom Poker.
