In recent years, the women of poker have carved out an astonishing amount of prize money in some of the world’s biggest games. With the number of female players at an all-time high, PokerStars has decided to offer a series designed strictly for their female fan base.
Simply entitled the “PokerStars Women’s Leage”, this new creation will run two kinds of events. First will be a $5.50 daily tournament, kicking off at 21:00 ET (13:10 ET for the Euro Division) all week long. The second (and bigger) game will be a $55 buy-in tournament, kicking off every Sunday at 20:10 ET (12:10 ET for the Euro Division).
Besides the large amounts of cash, the players will also be competing for Ladies’ Luxury Events Packages, which include all expenses paid trips to places like the Bahamas, Monte Carlo, and London. Points will also be handed out simply for participating in the event, which can be used to climb the League Leaderboard. Prizes will be handed out for various rankings, including monthly and end of the year packages.
The face of the Women’s Poker League is, not surprisingly, Vanessa Rousso. One of the most accomplished players on the planet, she is also one of the premier female players at PokerStars. She has already posted a video to the company website, explaining the ins and outs of the new alliance.
