When players think of PokerStars, they think about the games, promotions, and great pros that have made it the king of online poker sites – a place to play, but not where we’d go to get news from around the industry.

Well, the brass over at PokerStars are determined to change that perception. Earlier this week, it was announced that the internet gaming giant has acquired three of the top poker blogs on the web. The lucky trio are as follows: PokerPages.com, PlayWinningPoker.com, and Poker-Babes.com.

The first, PokerPages.com, was the original online resource for the world’s greatest card game. After years of unprecedented success, the site shut down in October 2009. This new backing from PokerStars could signal a return to the top for the long-time industry leader, which once boasted such writers as Mike Paulle and T.J. Cloutier.

PlayWinningPoker is perhaps the greatest acquisition among the three, as it is devoted almost exclusively to the online world. Their segments on philosophy and bankroll management, however, carry over to the live game rather nicely. It has long been hailed as one of the best sources for online strategy.

Lastly is Poker-Babes.com, which has emerged as one of the leading proponents of such rising games as Razz and Badugi. Their player profiles are also quite interesting, complete with interviews and words from famous faces throughout the game.

So, with these new arrows in their quiver, PokerStars has managed to once again vault ahead of their competition. By creating a one-stop network for everything today’s poker enthusiasts need, the company looks to continue their stint as an industry front-runner. Don’t be surprised if Full Tilt follows suit in the near future with some acquisitions of their own.
