PokerStars is ensuring that Belgium won’t just be famous for its waffles.

PokerStars is bringing its brand and a premium live poker experience to the Kingdom of Belgium via the Belgian Online Poker Experience. The buy-in is €1,700, but qualifiers are available for as little as €2.20. The tournament is scheduled to run October 9 – 17.

The 2010 BOPC is sure to surpass last year’s field of 817 players which featured Europe’s best. Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Marcel Luske, and Johnny Lodden all participated, but Antonio Guida, a local, took it down to the tune of €250,000.

In addition to the Main Event, PokerStars is hosting a €110 Ladies Event, €1050 Freezeout, and a novel €5,200 Team Heads-up tournament.

For better or for worse, most of the BOPC Satellites are only available to residents of Belgium. The feeder system for citizens works like this: €2.20 Daily Rebuys feed into €27 Weekly Qualifiers that feed into €215 Super Satellites. Win the Super Satellite and you are in the BOPC Main Event! Belgium players can also partake in a €33 Rebuy on Sundays in which one seat is guaranteed.

International players will follow the same feeder system as above minus the €33 Rebuy Event. The Super Satellite for players outside of Belgium will take place on September 26.

What does a BOPC Prize Package include? On top of a Main Event seat, qualifiers will enjoy 5 nights in a local hotel and 5 buffet vouchers.

Best of luck to every BOPC hopeful!
