PokerStars has an excellent VIP system, but many people have complained that only the top tiers have actual rewards that are worth shooting for. Well, complain no more, because in 2010 PokerStars will introduce some changes to its VIP Program with the goal of making it easier for the frequent player to qualify for the top tiers of its VIP Scheme.
Currently, this is how the levels look:
- All players start at the Bronze Level.
- + 1200 VPP: Silver Level (monthly)
- + 3000 VPP: Gold Level (monthly)
- + 7500 VPP: Platinum Star (monthly)
- + 100,000 VPP: SuperNova (yearly)
- + 1,000,000 VPP: SuperNova Elite (yearly)
Starting January 1st, most Multi Table Tournaments, Sit n Go Tournaments and Cash games will offer more VPP for your play. Players will receive 5.5 VPPs for each $1.00 in entry fees, and for European players, 8 VPPs for every €1.00 they pay in entry fees. In cash games, the amount of VPPs you receive obviously will depend on the amount of rake collected at the table.
Reaching SilverStar will also be much easier this time around, as players will only be required to earn 750 points. Once you reach SilverStar status, you will also get a multiplier effect which will increase the amount of FPPs you earn for your play.
Gone will also be the weekly $75,000 Supernova Freerolls, in which GoldStar and PlatinumStar members could also enter by buying their way in with FPPs. The new one will take place on a quarterly basis, with $1,000,000 in its prize pool. Additionally, PokerStars will also offer SilverStar+ members a chance to play in a heads-up match versus Team PokerStars Pros.
PokerStars will also be giving away $1,000 to you just for playing. Yes, you read that right. Just play on PokerStars and you will earn milestone bonuses which will total $1,000 during the year, and this is in addition the bonuses we already know and love. The milestones and their bonuses are as follows:
750, 1,500, 2,250, 3,000, 4,000 and 5,000 yearly VPPs milestones will net you $10 each;
10,000, 15,000, 20,000, 25,000, 30,000, 35,000, 40,000 and 45,000 VPP milestones will net you $50 every time you reach them;
50,000, 60,000, 70,000, 80,000 and 90,000 yearly VPP milestones will net you $100 each.
In total it will be an additional $1,000 to your bankroll just for playing. Think of it as small stakes SuperNova Elite bonuses.
