Rory Rees Brennan, a 23-year-old poker player from Dublin, bested a field of 255 which included poker greats such as Mike Sexton and “Cowboy” Kenna James, and took down a healthy €160,000 for his efforts and the honor that comes with winning the first major event of 2009. Brennan has already had great success online, and is a member of Party Poker’s exclusive Palladium Lounge. He also has had some great success in land based tournaments, with deep runs in last year’s PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and having won a PLO side event at the European Deep Stack Championship. In December last year he also won the €1,000 tournament at Dublin’s Fitzwilliam Card Club having previously finished second and fourth.

He sure put on his best 4-leaf clover and took down the first event of ’09. Be on the lookout for this kid: he’s like soda pop on the rise.

You too can have the opportunity of playing against him online by joining Party Poker today!
